About the Fire

Fire and Ambulance

The Nanticoke Fire Department and EMS services consists of 4 engines as well as a new
ladder truck, two ambulances, and a rescue vehicle. It is a paid fire department
with 9 firemen housed in a headquarters building holding 2 engines and the ladder truck as
well as the ambulances and rescue truck. Two engines are housed in other stations
throughout the city and they are manned by volunteer firefighters.
Police Department
The Police Department consists of 16 full time officers including Chief Jim
Chesinski, 2 Captain of detectives, 1 Sergeant, . Additionally, there are 2 very
active crime watch programs. One is based in the Hanover Section with a 6 man roving mobile patrol
who are equipped with 2 way FM radios. A base station maintains communications with police
and the 911 network. Nick Pucino is the coordinator and Richie Zarzycki is the elected
President. There are about 20 active members who attend the monthly meetings which are
held on the third Tuesday of every month at the Engine 4 fire station on Espy Street at

Council meets the last Wednesday of each month at 7p.m. in the municipal building, 15 East
Ridge Street.
The Street Department
The Nanticoke Street Department consists of 2 men and various equipment. Garbage and
trash pickup is handled by an outside firm and the men of the department tend to road
repair and other related jobs.

Recreation Department.
The City Recreation Department consists of a recreation board who administer various
playgrounds and equipment in the city. Additionally, there is a large play area including
a ball diamond and tennis courts in the Hanover Section administered by the Hanover
Recreation Association and a playground in the Honey Pot section of the city
administered by the Honey Pot Recreation committee. |
