NEIGHBORHOOD CRIME WATCH

Hanover Section of Nanticoke

The Neighborhood Crime Watch of the Hanover Section of Nanticoke meets on the third Tuesday of every month at the Engine Four Fire Station on Espy Street, second floor, at 7 p.m. The meetings are open and we encourage everyone to attend and see your crime watch in action and to air your problems or report something you're concerned about. We currently have six members on the mobile patrol and others on foot patrols. There is a definite need for more volunteers to assist us. Anyone wishing to join the group may simply attend any meeting or call the crime watch number at 570-735-2970.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT DAY

Nanticoke Mayor John Bushko will be asked to proclaim the first Tuesday in August,  2008, as National Night Out day in Nanticoke . St. John's picnic grounds on Front Street in the Hanover Section of Nanticoke will be the scene of a great celebration to

"GIVE CRIME AND DRUGS A HOLIDAY".

All of which will be sponsored by the Neighborhood Crime Watch of the Hanover Section of Nanticoke.

City of Nanticoke Mayor John Bushko and District Attorney Jackie Musto Carroll will both will be asked to attended  to lend their support.

Other ranking politicians are invited. It will be  interesting to see who  shows up. Our two Senators, Congressman, Governor, and State Representative, Mayor and Council  are invited by letter  to attend.

Engine #4 of the Hanover #4 Fire Company and Nanticoke Fire Department will be there with a complement of firefighters.

Officers  from the Nanticoke Police Department will oversee a new program of etching vin numbers into a vehicles glass to discourage theft. All automobiles as well as vans and motorcycles will be eligible. Get there early and get your vehicle done.

Refreshments consisting of hot dogs and hamburgers, water and cola products will be available to the public.

Part of National Night Out day included the request that all residents turn on their outside lights and leave them on for the entire night. For those concerned about the cost, studies have shown that  is about --- 67cents a YEAR

The Crime Watch crew works like a well oiled machine and everything will go off like a well maintained clock. No hitches or glitches. They are to be commended and thanked for a job well done.

National Night Out 2008 is in the planning stages and promises to be another great event. it will be held on August 5th, the first Tuesday in August, 2008. Please mark your calendars for the first Tuesday in August !!!

The Nanticoke Basketball Booster Club

It's easy to join the boosters and we do need more members, especially parents, and more importantly parents of the 7th and 8th grade players. We meet every third Wednesday of the month except July, and August at the Alden Manor at 7p.m.. Come and help us to help the kids. We have a lot of fun and we're very informal.

If you're a basketball parent, we hope to see you there!!  Come out and join us and help us to help your kids. Come and join in the fun. Let's see you at the meeting.
